Ed Gorman
About
Ed Gorman is a business litigator with 20 years of experience in both the public and private sector. Before starting his own practice, Ed spent 7 years as a Senior Assistant City Attorney with the Denver City Attorney’s Office. During that time, Ed represented many different departments and agencies as part of the City Attorney’s Municipal Operations Litigation Team. As a Senior Litigator for Denver, Ed was responsible for leading many high-profile litigation efforts in federal and state courts, including disputes involving real estate, property acquisition and land use, large-scale construction projects, commercial contracts, environmental matters, and open records and First Amendment claims. Ed also represented Denver in several affirmative multi-district litigation actions, including those involving the opioid epidemic, teen vaping, and Aqueous Film-Forming Foam (AFFF), some of which have resulted in significant recoveries on behalf of Denver and its citizens. Prior to his work for Denver, Ed was a litigator for a number of law firms, both large and small, in Denver and in New York City, where he began his career, and has experience with a variety of types of business litigation and mass tort actions. Ed has experience successfully taking cases from onset, through trial and appeal and has successfully argued before the Tenth Circuit and other appellate courts on multiple occasions.
Ed’s experience in both the public and private sector gives him a unique perspective on how to solve problems, which often begins with asking the right questions at the beginning of any dispute, recognizing, and understanding a client’s objectives, and carefully considering the real-world implications of a particular course of action, whether that be financial, political or something else. In this, Ed views litigation as a useful tool to be deployed strategically, not merely a blunt instrument.
On his free time, Ed enjoys spending time with his wife Wallis, his two children, his pets, and enjoying all that living in Colorado has to offer, including hiking, camping, and attending various live music and sporting events.
